Portland, Oregon is where Beyond Quotes finds its home, so when there is an important change in health insurance that takes place in our own backyard, we like to make the public aware of it.  Sometimes these changes occur within the health insurance industry specifically as when new products like HSAs are rolled out, and sometimes occur as change within the health care delivery system itself in such a way that they may bear, however greatly or slightly, on some aspects of insurance itself.

In this particular case it is a company called Zoomcare.  Zoomcare is located near Lake Oswego near the outskirts of Portland, Oregon and is the emodiment of virtually all that is meant by the often heard phrase, "On Demand Medicine".  The "zoom" in the name Zoomcare is meant to suggest that you will be able to obtain physician's services in a convenient, no-hassle style, and not that you will be rushed in and out of the facility.  There are a number of things that Zoomcare is doing which should be of particular note.  To appreciate all of them, you may want to pay a visit to their website, but here is a brief summary:

• You can schedule your visit online in about 20 seconds.  There are no forms to fill out, and you don't even have to register!  Amazing, huh?
• Zoomcare makes information about the pricing of their most common services readily available on their website and at their office location.
• You can see average current wait-time on their website.
• They are open every day of the week and have their hours of operation and location on their front page so you don't have to go digging for it.
• You can fill your prescription right in their office.
• They have video introductions right on their web page of all their doctors on their home page as well as videos of their current location and their future one which will be opening in the Pearl District (13th and Davis) in January of 2008.
• They are a paperless office which means that you are not given a sheaf of papers to fill as a new patient.
• There are videos of important health issues right on the home page.

There is probably more that is being left out, but you get the idea.  Their facilities are modern, clean, and professional without being clinical, and their staff is super friendly and helpful.

As more and more consumers switch over to HSAs and have discretionary income to spend on health care, they will be able to make choices which should hopefully drive medicine to become more sensitive to the health care client.  It is clear that Zoomcare is leading the way!
