As mentioned in a previous article on Beyond Quotes, it takes a little bit of sleuthing to find the best possible rate for term life insurance even if one uses the internet to get quotes.  But there is something else to know about getting accurate quotes, and it has to do with something that in the life insurance business is called table rating. 

What does tabl rating mean?  It is a chart which each life insurance company has that is referred to when someone does not fall into a regulr rating class.  Regular rating classes in ascending order are Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard Plus, Standard, and Smoking.  Most often table rating is used to calculate premium for someone who falls outside the normal height and weight chart.

Therein lies the peril because when you get an online life insurance quote, if your weight falls outside normal rating categories, you will be table rated, and table rates are not reflected in online life insurance quoting engines.  Because this is so, outlieers will not be able to get an accurate quote and will disappointed when they find out that they will be requied to pay more than they expected.
